ACQUISITIONS
The Campbell Group continuously reviews acquisition prospects. We typically initiate, review and analyze an average of fifteen acquisition opportunities each year.
The correct acquisition is paramount to the success of the investment, and therefore requires patience and expertise. The process can take from two to five months depending on size and complexity of the transaction. Our detailed due diligence review evaluates each potential transaction from a technical forest management perspective and investment objectives of the client. If a property satisfies both conditions, we present it to our client(s), with a preliminary due diligence report detailing the acquisitions attributes of the property.
The acquisition process is comprised of many key steps that are applicable to most timberland acquisitions. The steps are organized into seven phases:
- Initial Contact & Evaluation
- Review of Property & Inventory Data
- Economic Analysis & Valuation
- Investment Committee
- Final Presentation to the client
- Negotiation
- Closing
Sourcing Acquisitions
A seasoned acquisition team comprised of six professionals, led by Stan Renecker, Managing Director of Acquisitions, are active in the market at all times. The team is dedicated to sourcing and evaluating timberlands for our clients. To support their effort, we have developed and maintain a database of landowners (potential sellers).
Once we acquire the property. The Campbell Group internally employs land, silviculture, and forestry specialists with average experience of 18 years in forest management to support and develop the acquired forest land.
